Brief History

Cesc Fabregas was born Vilassar de Mar, Barcelona to father who ran a property business and a mother who owned a pastry company. Being a citizen of the Barcelona province, Fabregas always supported Barcelona as a kid.

He recalls seeing his first live match of Barcelona when he was nine years old. Fabregas took off his career in Barcelona as a defensive midfielder for the Barcelona youth team.

Soon he saw that opportunities at Barcelona would not widen for him, he got signed to the london based club, Arsenal. Signed as a 16 year old football player, Fabregas faced many difficulties in coping up with the life in London which included language problems.

He made his debut as an arsenal player on 23 October 2003 in the League Cup, where the match went a tie against Rotherham United. After this match, Fabregas became Arsenal’s youngest football player having been 16 years and 5 months at that time.

Taking On A Bigger Play

After patrick vieira was transferred to Juventus, his place was taken by Cesc Fabregas in 2005. He was put on the opening eleven players list and played in 49 games in the 2005-2006 season. Due to an increased involvement in the team’s matches, he was under the radar, regardless of his age.

His ability to make up for the loss of patrick vieira was at a doubt. It was until he proved his skills at the 2006 championship league where he played against both, Read Madrid and Juventus. Proving that he was of the likes of other experienced players by scoring the first goal against Juventus and setting up the second one for Henry.

After playing against many experienced players in Juventus, including his ex-team mate Patrick vieira and David Sergio Trezeguet, he proved his abilities as a central midfielder. Cesc Fabregas played regularly in matches after this although Arsenal met a little down-turn which included the loss of the final match of the League Cup.

He was nominated for a few awards during post 2006 and early 2007 but most of them were won by Christiano Ronaldo at that time. Due to his high-scoring, he was named “Arsenal’s player of the season”. In 2007-2008 season when arsenal first lost David Dien (Arsenal’s ex-vice chairman) and then later the high scoring player, Thierry Henry who moved to Barcelona, the role of Fabregas increased in the performance of Arsenal.

Fabregas then led the  team to victory in the 2007-2008 season until March. He took off the season well, and is also accredited for gaining Arsenal victory over A.C. Milan in the champions league sem-finals. Fabregas got many awards and was once again named Arsenal’s player of the season in the 2007-2008 season.

Getting Promoted To Being The Captain

Christiano pretty much deserved a big title for being the arsenal player of the year for two years in a row. Despite his young age, he managed to put in the most excellent game compared to other players in the team.

3 months and 14 games later, after the start of the 2008-2009 season, Fabregas took the hold of captaincy being the successor to William Gallas. Expectations on him went to an all-time extreme.

However, just as he started leading Arsenal to the top, Fabregas got ruled out for four straight months for sustaining a leg injury in a match against Liverpool. Many say, it was because of this that Arsenal did not finish in the top in the 2008-2009 season.

But in the 2009-2010 season, Fabregas is back in game, opening with other young players including Denílson, Gaël Clichy, Abou Diaby, Nicklas Bendtner, Theo Walcott and Alexandre Song. He started off the season with a great kick-start by beating Everton. As of November 2009, Arsenal stood in the top 10 on 2nd position.
